Gridiron Gains

How much difference does a little exercise actually make?

Let’s say you consume (on top of normal eating and drinking) about 3 beers, 2 slices of pizza, and one soda, and you sit on the couch all day...That’s an EXTRA 1000 calories.

Times 16 Sundays (that’s just regular season) equals 16,000 extra calories. If 3,500 calories equals one pound of weight gain, then 16,000 calories equals an extra 4.6 pounds per season. Over the course or 5 years, you could gain (just from watching football) 23 extra pounds.

Or you only consume an extra 500 calories because you make better choices AND you burn 300 calories with fitness, chores, and indoor or outdoor games...That’s an EXTRA 200 calories.

Times 16 Sundays equals 3,200 extra calories. If 3,500 calories equals one pound of weight gain, then 3,200 calories equals an extra 0.9 pounds per season. Over the course or 5 years, you could gain (just from watching football) 4.5 extra pounds.
