Alcohol: How much is too much?

When it comes to alcohol, the dose makes the poison. The common (and informed) advice says that if you drink alcohol, do so in moderation. What’s considered “moderation”? For women that means up to one drink a day, and for men, up to two drinks a day. Drinking excessively can increase your short- and long-term health risks—including injuries, cancer, and other chronic diseases—and affect your sexual and mental health.
