The Military Nutrition Environment Tool (mNEAT) is available as a web-based app. The app version allows for better accuracy when entering and calculating scores, generates a detailed report of scores, and stores results year-to-year. The mNEAT app is housed at the Uniformed Services University (USU), and you can easily access it with your CAC or a username and password.
If you’re interested in conducting an mNEAT assessment on your local installation or ship or reviewing scores, follow the directions below to create your mNEAT account.

Option 1: Sign up with a CAC
Register
- Insert your CAC into a card reader.
- Go to: https://apps.usuhs.edu/account-registration
- Click “Get Started” to begin account creation.
- Some fields will auto-fill with information from your CAC.
- If you get an error, skip to further down on this page.
- Enter your preferred email address to receive program updates.
- In the “Approving POC email” field, type: sarah.hinman.ctr@usuhs.edu
- Click “Submit.”
- Review your information for accuracy. Click “Yes.”
- Click “Close” to exit the system.
- You will receive a confirmation email from the USU Accounts team.
Wait for approval (up to 24 hours)
- When your request has been approved, you’ll receive an email with your USU Single Sign On (SSO) account information.
- Follow the steps in the email to change your password.
Send email
- Send an email to mNEAT@usuhs.edu with the following information:
- Full name (first and last)
- USU SSO username
- Service branch
- Installation(s) where you intend to complete the mNEAT assessment
- You will receive a confirmation from mNEAT@usuhs.edu once you’ve been added to the mNEAT app.
Important: Do not forward your USU SSO confirmation email. This may be blocked by the USU email system. Instead, copy the required details into a new email.
Option 2: Sign up without a CAC
If you don’t have a CAC or if you’re unable to register with your CAC, you can still create a USU SSO account.
Register
Send the following information to mNEAT@usuhs.edu.
- Name
- Primary email address
- Recovery email address (personal email, in case you forget your password)
- Service branch
- Installation(s) where you intend to complete the mNEAT assessment
- DoD number from your CAC
Wait for approval
- When your request has been approved, you’ll receive an email with your USU SSO account information.
- Follow the steps in the email to change your password.
Wait to receive an email from mNEAT@usuhs.edu that confirms you have been added to the mNEAT app.
Link CAC to account
When signing in to the mNEAT app (mNEAT.usuhs.edu/home) for the first time, click on the “Register your CAC (requires sign in)” link. This will allow you to use your CAC to sign into the app.
Forgotten password
Click "Recover Your Password." You should receive an email from USU Accounts with instructions to reset your password. If you do not receive the email within 5 minutes, check your spam folder for the reset email. If the link in the email fails, email mNEAT@usuhs.edu for help.
Email change
If your email address changes, contact the team at mNEAT@usuhs.edu to stay up-to-date with mNEAT app access.
