G4G at Home

Military families know what it’s like to overcome challenges. Whether you’re with loved ones, friends, neighbors, battle buddies, or roommates, being “in it together” is an opportunity to strengthen bonds and navigate challenges. For example, figuring out “what’s for dinner” is a common one. Find out some simple ways to plan ahead, save money, and learn about the benefits of bringing G4G home in this video from the G4G team!

Let the G4G stoplight guide you

Bring the G4G stoplight home and place it near your fridge or pantry to help guide what you eat for better wellness. Focus on small changes to make the performance-boosting choice, the easy choice.

Prepare Green-coded snacks

Snacks can provide crucial nutrients before or after workouts, missions, or when eating a full meal just isn’t possible. Be ready for anything when you shop for or prepare these Green-coded snacks to boost your mental and physical performance.

Create a space for hydration

Challenge your family to set up your own G4G hydration station. Who can come up with the tastiest drink or most colorful station? Even a small setup can help encourage better drink choices. Try these tips to set up your station for success:

  • Strawberry Lime Infused Water. Tasty and refreshing! AFRS Code: C-300-01Position your hydration station in a prominent place in your kitchen.
  • Add color and flavor to plain or carbonated water with sliced fruit (citrus), herbs (mint leaves), or sliced veggies (cucumber).
  • Choose a “Featured Drink” such as infused water with seasonal fruit.
  • Serve pre-made drinks in pitchers, drink dispensers, water bottles, or glass jars.
  • Use natural flavor enhancers such as lemon wedges, honey, vanilla, and cinnamon instead of traditional sweeteners.

Tip from the field: Recreate one or more of the popular infused waters you find at the dining facility or galley:

  • Cucumbers + mint
  • Oranges + grapes
  • Strawberries + limes
  • Lemons + rosemary
