Integrated Primary Prevention (IPP) is the U.S. Coast Guard's (USCG) holistic strategy to proactively combat a range of harmful behaviors by focusing on shared risk and protective factors. IPP unites prevention efforts against issues such as sexual assault, suicide, substance misuse, and domestic abuse, recognizing they often share common causes like isolation and stress. Historically, prevention was siloed and reactive; IPP adopts an evidence-based, public health model and the Total Force Fitness (TFF) Framework to prevent harm before it occurs, directly supporting force readiness. The Integrated Primary Prevention Workforce (IPPW) implements this strategy through a continuous, data-driven cycle of understanding, developing, implementing, and evaluating prevention activities. Resilience Coordinators are assets of the USCG IPP office.
